I would like to point out that the barges that you mention in the February Chementator, Desalination barges based on reverse osmosis (RO; p. 15), would not be "the first based on reverse osmosis". Ionics Inc., now a part of GE Water & Process Technologies built a barge-mounted SWRO plant a number of years ago for a customer in the Middle East. The system even used ultrafiltration as pretreatment to the SWRO process.
