Praj Industries breaks ground on second-generation cellulosic ethanol plant

and critical process equipment has broken ground on an integrated second-generation (2G) cellulosic ethanol plant, the first of its kind in South Asia. The groundbreaking ceremony took place at Shirala in the Sangli District in Maharashtra, India. The 2G cellulosic ethanol plant will operate on different varieties of biomasss with a capacity of 100 metric tons per day (m.t./d) of biomass, which includes agricultural wastes such as corn stover, cobs and bagasse. Praj expects the project cost to be approximately $25 million.
