New plant revamp contract awarded to EDL Anlagenbau
Gerald Ondrey
On November 7, 2012 the CEOs of Total Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland GmbH, Leuna and EDL Anlagenbau Gesellschaft mbH (Leipzig, Germany) signed a contract on the revamp of the fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) gas-processing plant, alkylation plant and reactor conversion of the FCC plant at Leuna, Germany.
EDL’s scope for the three projects includes the detail engineering, procurement support, project management and commissioning support.
The aim of the FCC gas-processing-plant revamp and the FCC reactor conversion is to increase the yield structure.
The revamp of the alkylation plant is intended to produce more alkylate which is a key component of gasoline to increase the octane number (antiknock properties of gasoline engines).
The services will be rendered on the basis of the basic engineering already provided by EDL and completed in 2014 within the framework of a plant shutdown.
By concluding this contract EDL strengthens its position as specialist in refinery revamps in Central Europe. It demonstrates once more how the global player Total relies on EDL’s high-quality work and adherence to schedules.
