Outotec grows its maintenance services by acquiring Scanalyse
Gerald Ondrey
Outotec Oyj (Espoo, Finland; www.outotec.com) has signed an agreement to acquire Scanalyse Holdings Pty Ltd., an Australian-based software technology company with operations in Australia, Brazil, Chile and the U.S. Scanalyse provides services in process equipment condition and performance monitoring. The acquisition strengthens Outotec's specialized maintenance services, supporting life cycle solutions and Outotec's strategy to grow the services business. The acquisition is expected to be completed in March 2013 and the price is not disclosed.
Scanalyse has a strong focus in research and development, with particular emphasis on algorithms and software technology. The company has developed proprietary computer analysis of spatial laser scan data. This analysis is used for process equipment condition and performance monitoring. Scanalyse products include MillMapper for grinding mill monitoring and CrusherMapper for crusher monitoring. Scanalyse services have quickly gained acceptance in the minerals processing industry in Australia and other mining countries, enabling the operators to optimize their asset performance.
Scanalyse has 36 employees, with sales of some few million euros in 2012. Outotec expects to significantly increase the sales of these products worldwide.
"Scanalyse is an innovative young company specializing in measurement software development. Its condition and performance monitoring technologies and services are a valuable addition to Outotec's life cycle services portfolio. By combining the expertise of Scanalyse and Outotec we can offer new value added services to our common customer base. There are good opportunities to multiply the business volume of grinding mill and crusher monitoring services and to further develop applications for other process equipment, such as refractory lined vessels", says Outotec CEO Pertti Korhonen.
